Greetings from BIDF Steering Committee Chairman

Greetings from the 19th Busan International Dance Festival in 2023 Hello! Over the waves of the pandemic, we are continuing again. The difficult times in the past have made us more mature. It made us more reflect on the preciousness of everyday life. The Busan International Dance Festival has come to 19th in this year. It has already been 19 years since we started the voyage with a prayerful heart to connect and communicate with the world through dance and to share hope through dance. The vitality of dance is like palpitating of reaching out a hand to someone. Without losing this original intention, we would do our best to keep in touch and communicate with you and the world. Performances at the Busan International Dance Festival are a record of this times. I sincerely hope that the flower of hope cultivated in the most difficult times will bloom beautifully and become a precious stage leading to the future.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Busan City Mayor Park Hyeong-Jun and Busan City Culture and Arts Department Officials, Busan City Council Speaker An Seong-Min and Members, Haeundae-Gu Mayor Kim Seong-Su, and Haeundae-Gu Officials, who generously supported for hosting the Busan International Dance Festival. I would also like to express my gratitude to the Busan International Dance Festival Organizing Committee Oh Soo-Yeon, the Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee, the Executives, and the Members of the Steering committee. I would also like to express my gratitude to the Busan Cinema Center, the CEO Kim Jin-Hae, and all the people involved for co-hosting the Opening Ceremony in cooperating with the Busan International Dance Festival. In particular, a Support Group was formed this year, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Representative of the Support group, Park Sang-Joon, and the Supporters who sincerely supported in many ways.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Officials of overseas Embassies and Ministries who supported and provided support for Overseas Groups to perform in Busan, as well as to all domestic and foreign Dance Groups who participated in the Busan International Dance Festival. And thank you to the Stage Production Crews, various Staffs, Volunteers, who wholeheartedly supported the stage, and the Secretariats who keep all matters in one heart. And we wish to host the 2030 World Expo in Busan, ‘As one with dance To the world with Busan’, Busan International Dance Festival is going to have a curtain open. Thank you
